Cookie Policy
GHOSTBOND Academy — Cookie Policy
Version 1.0 | Issued: 6 September 2026 | Effective from: 6 September 2026
1. Purpose
1.1 This Cookie Policy explains how GHOSTBOND Academy uses cookies and similar technologies, what choices you have, and how to change them. It should be read with the Privacy and Data Collection Policy.
1.2 It is issued in accordance with the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC as implemented in Ireland by S.I. No. 336/2011, the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, the GDPR and UK GDPR, and applicable US State privacy laws.
2. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are
2.1 A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website.
2.2 We also use similar technologies, including:
- local and session storage — data stored in your browser;
- pixels and web beacons — small image or script files that record whether a page or email was opened;
- software development kits (SDKs) — code embedded in applications;
- device fingerprinting signals — combinations of device and browser attributes used for security and fraud prevention.
2.3 In this Policy, “cookies” includes all of the above.
3. Categories of Cookie We Use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies. Required for the website to function. They enable login, session management, basket and checkout, load balancing, fraud prevention and security. These are set without consent because the service cannot be provided without them. They cannot be disabled through our preference tool.
3.2 Functional cookies. Remember your preferences — language, region, currency, video playback position, cookie choices, accessibility settings. Set only with your consent.
3.3 Analytics and performance cookies. Help us understand how the Academy is used — pages viewed, course completion patterns, errors, load times. Set only with your consent.
3.4 Advertising and targeting cookies. Used to measure campaign performance, limit repeat advertising and deliver relevant advertising on third-party platforms. Set only with your consent. These may involve disclosure of identifiers to advertising partners and may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” under certain US State laws — see clause 7.
3.5 Content protection cookies. Support playback licensing, concurrent-session limits and watermarking used to prevent unauthorised distribution of course content. Where these are essential to the delivery and protection of paid content, they are treated as strictly necessary.
4. Cookie Table
[This table must be completed from a technical cookie audit before publication. A generic table is not compliant. Scan the live site with a consent-management platform or cookie scanner, and list every cookie actually set.]
| Cookie name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration | First / third party |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| [_secure_session_id] | Shopify | Strictly necessary | Maintains checkout session | 24 hours | First |

5. Consent
5.1 When you first visit the Academy website you will see a cookie banner.
5.2 Non-essential cookies are not set until you make a choice. The banner offers “Accept all”, “Reject all” and “Manage preferences” with equal prominence. Rejecting is as easy as accepting.
5.3 No box is pre-ticked, and continued scrolling or browsing is not treated as consent.
5.4 We record the fact, date, time, scope and version of your consent.
5.5 We will ask again at least every 12 months, and sooner if we introduce a materially new purpose or provider.
6. Managing Your Preferences
6.1 Cookie Preferences link. Available at all times in the website footer. Use it to change or withdraw consent for any non-essential category.
6.2 Browser controls. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the Academy from working, including login and checkout.
6.3 Global Privacy Control. Where supported and legally applicable, we treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out of advertising cookies and of the sale or sharing of personal information.
6.4 Platform opt-outs. You can also manage advertising preferences through youronlinechoices.eu (EU), optout.aboutads.info (US, DAA) and optout.networkadvertising.org (US, NAI).
7. Advertising Cookies, “Sale” and “Sharing”
7.1 Enabling advertising cookies may result in identifiers and browsing activity being disclosed to advertising partners who may use that data for their own purposes.
7.2 Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar State laws, this may constitute a “sale” or “sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising”.
7.3 You may opt out at any time using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer, the Cookie Preferences tool, or a GPC signal.
8. Cookies in Emails
8.1 Our marketing emails contain pixels that record whether the email was opened and which links were clicked. This helps us measure and improve our communications.
8.2 You can prevent this by disabling image loading in your email client, or by unsubscribing.
9. Changes
9.1 We update this Policy when our cookies, providers or legal obligations change. The current version is published with a version number and revision date.
