Applies to all in-person masterclasses and any live session involving practical, hands-on work with products, tools or models. Must be accepted before attendance. These Terms form part of the GHOSTBOND Academy Terms and Conditions.

Note for review: the enforceability of assumption of risk and waiver language differs materially between Ireland/EU and the United States, and between US States. This document is drafted to be effective where enforceable and to fall back on disclosure, informed consent and safe-systems obligations where it is not. Irish and Florida counsel should both review before use.

1. Nature of the Training

1.1 Academy practical training involves the demonstration and hands-on use of:

1. hair replacement and lace adhesives, including solvent-based and water-based systems;
2. adhesive removers and solvents;
3. cleansers, primers, scalp protectors and tapes;
4. sharps, including scissors, razors and blades;
5. heat tools, where the course includes them; and
6. work performed on live human models.

1.2 These activities carry inherent risks including skin irritation, allergic reaction, chemical sensitisation, eye irritation, inhalation of vapour, cuts, burns and slips or falls.

1.3 By attending, you confirm that you understand the nature of the training and accept these inherent risks.

2. Eligibility

2.1 Participants in practical training must be aged 18 or over. No exception.

2.2 You must satisfy any professional prerequisite stated on the event page.

2.3 You must hold any licence, registration or permit required to perform the techniques taught in the jurisdiction where you practise. It is your responsibility to verify this. Attendance does not confer any such licence.

2.4 Insurance. You are strongly advised to hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance covering the techniques taught. Where the event page states that insurance is mandatory, you must produce evidence of cover on request, and may be refused participation without it.

3. Health Disclosure

3.1 Before attending, you must tell us of any condition that may affect your safe participation, including:

1. known allergy or sensitivity to acrylates, cyanoacrylates, latex, solvents, fragrance or any product used on the course;
2. asthma or other respiratory condition affected by solvent vapour;
3. pregnancy;
4. any condition affecting your ability to stand for extended periods, use sharps safely, or respond to instruction; and
5. any medication that may be relevant.

3.2 You may disclose to hello@ghostbondacademy.com in confidence. This is special category health information, processed only with your explicit consent and only as necessary for your safety — see clause 3.7 of the Privacy and Data Collection Policy.

3.3 We will make reasonable adjustments where we can. We may decline participation where we cannot make the training safe for you, in which case a full refund will be given.

3.4 Failure to disclose a known relevant condition may invalidate our ability to keep you safe and may affect any claim you make.

4. Patch Testing

4.1 Patch testing is mandatory for every participant and every model before any adhesive is applied to skin, unless the educator confirms in writing that a valid test has already been carried out.

4.2 The patch test must be carried out in accordance with the product’s instructions for use and the timing stated in your pre-course information — ordinarily at least 48 hours before the class.

4.3 It is your responsibility to arrange patch testing for yourself and for any model you bring.

4.4 Any participant or model who has not been patch tested will be restricted to observation and dry technique. No refund is payable for a restriction arising from failure to patch test.

5. Safety Rules During Training

You must:

5.1 Follow all instructions from the educator and venue staff at all times.

5.2 Use every product strictly in accordance with its label, instructions for use and safety data sheet. Safety data sheets are available on request and will be accessible at the venue.

5.3 Use the personal protective equipment provided or specified — including gloves and, where stated, eye protection and a mask.

5.4 Work only in the designated ventilated areas when using solvents or removers.

5.5 Never apply product to broken, irritated, inflamed or sunburned skin, or to any area showing a reaction.

5.6 Stop immediately and inform the educator if you or your model experiences stinging, burning, itching, swelling, breathlessness or any adverse reaction.

5.7 Handle and dispose of sharps only in the containers provided.

5.8 Not bring or use any product other than those supplied or approved for the class. Counterfeit, decanted, relabelled or unapproved products are prohibited and will be confiscated for the duration of the class.

5.9 Not consume alcohol or drugs before or during the class. We may refuse or remove any person we reasonably believe to be impaired.

5.10 Not photograph or film another participant’s model without that model’s express consent.

6. Models

6.1 Where the event page requires you to provide a model, you are responsible for:

1. selecting a model who meets the stated criteria;
2. ensuring the model is aged 18 or over;
3. arranging the model’s patch test under clause 4;
4. informing the model of the nature of the training, the products to be used and the risks; and
5. obtaining the model’s signed Model Release and Consent Form before the class.

6.2 You warrant that your model has given informed consent and that all information you provide about the model is accurate.

6.3 We may refuse to allow a model to participate where the criteria at 6.1 are not met, where the model shows signs of a skin condition or reaction, or where the model withdraws consent. No refund is payable.

6.4 A model may withdraw consent at any time, including mid-procedure. Work must stop immediately and the model must be made safe and comfortable.

6.5 Failure to secure a suitable model does not create an automatic entitlement to a refund — see clause 7.4 of the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

7. Incidents and First Aid

7.1 A first aid kit and trained first aider will be available at each in-person event. Emergency eyewash and, where solvents are used, appropriate ventilation and extinguishing equipment will be available.

7.2 All incidents, near misses and adverse reactions must be reported to the educator immediately and will be recorded in our incident log.

7.3 Where an adverse reaction occurs, the affected person should seek medical attention. We will provide the product name, batch number and safety data sheet to the treating clinician on request.

7.4 Product adverse events involving GHOSTBOND products will also be recorded and, where applicable, notified to the relevant competent authority under cosmetic product regulations.

8. Assumption of Risk and Acknowledgement

8.1 You acknowledge that you have read and understood clauses 1 to 7.

8.2 You voluntarily assume the inherent risks of practical training described at clause 1.2, to the extent permitted by the law applicable to your contract.

8.3 Nothing in this document excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. We remain responsible for providing a safe system of training, competent educators, a suitable venue, appropriate equipment and adequate instruction.

8.4 Subject to clause 8.3, you accept responsibility for:

1. loss or injury arising from your failure to follow instructions, product labelling or these Terms;
2. loss or injury caused by you to your model or to another participant;
3. your failure to disclose a relevant health condition; and
4. your use of the techniques taught after the course, on your own clients.

9. After the Course

9.1 Certification of attendance or completion does not confer competence to practise unsupervised where local law requires a licence.

9.2 You are solely responsible for the outcome of services you perform on your own clients, including consultation, contraindication assessment, patch testing, aftercare advice and record keeping.

9.3 You must maintain your own client consent, patch test and treatment records in accordance with the law of your jurisdiction.

10. Acceptance
